Ludwig
A bit of history...
Oktoberfest can trace its origins back to the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of the Kingdom of Bavaria and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. The wedding celebrations started with a parade and went on for five days, finally ending in a horse race in a field named after the bride, the "Theresewiese." The parade and race were continued in subsequent years, an agricultural fair and costume exhibition were added, and in the late 19th century the Munich brewers made their appearance at Oktoberfest. Today more than six million people attend the Munich festival and manage to consume over a million and a half gallons of beer.
