Professional Development Training for Teachers in Dance The Gypsy Folk Ensemble offers Professional Development training in dance for teachers in California elementary and middle schools as a means to help implement the concept of arts education as part of the school's core curriculum. The Professional Development workshops are one hour in length and are fully interactive sessions. They are designed to provide teachers with a repertoire of folk and ethnic dances to use in dance education, to help increase skills in dance instruction, and to provide background material suitable for all grade levels. The Gypsy Folk Ensemble has had extensive experience teaching dance to children and adults and has compiled a unique group of dances specially chosen to illustrate and exemplify California state dance standards. Three separate Professional Development workshops are available, each with a different set of dances. Music for the dances on a CD or Flash Drive and a 40 page syllabus containing full directions and cultural notes for all dances and tips on teaching dance can be provided to all participants. A standard Professional Development package is available for elementary and middle schools but we can also tailor workshops to meet particular school needs.
