The
Gypsy Folk Ensemble has had a connection with the Estonian community in
the United States since 1999 when members of Gypsy performed Estonian
dances at the
1999 West Coast Estonian Days festival in Los Angeles and played host
to the "Kuljus" performing group from Tallinn, Estonia.

Gypsy
was again involved with "Kuljus" in the 2007 Estonian Days festival
held in Los
Angeles and with the help of "Kuljus", Gypsy was invited to perform in
the
Estonian Song and Dance Celebration in Tallinn, Estonia in the Summer
of 2009. The festival, which takes place every five years, began with a
six mile parade through the streets of Tallinn and culminated with
performances by 34,000 singers and dancers for an audience of 200,000.

FOLK WEDDING
On
July 18, 2010, Gypsy took part in the Folk Wedding event at Plummer
Park in Los Angeles, a project of the Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art
Museum (CAFAM). The program celebrated the universal values of family,
love, and commitment to one another. Gypsy performed suites of Estonian
and Armenian dances as well as taking part in the Maypole twining.
