GYPSY celebrates the 2010 Summer Reading Program
“Make a Splash - Read!”
with a choice of two programs -
Dances of Polynesia or an
International Dance Program. Two or four dancers in colorful and
authentic costume present the dances with an educational
narrative and an opportunity for the audience to dive in and learn a
dance or two.
DANCES OF POLYNESIAThe
Polynesian people certainly made a splash when they ventured out into
the unchartered Pacific Ocean in small boats to discover the thousands
of islands that make up Polynesia. Join GYPSY to find out about the
dances they do while living so close to the sea. There may even be
mermaids - and we'll all learn how to go on a fishing party.
INTERNATIONAL DANCE PROGRAMIn our International program we will splash our way
from the cold Baltic Sea of northern
Europe and the
country
of Estonia with its rich traditions of the sea and fishing to
the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the isles of Greece where
we join with Greek fishermen and sponge divers. We may even learn how
to find our way out of a maze.
Rates
for the our Summer Reading Program presentation are
$175 for two
dancers or $300 for four dancers for a 45 minute show which includes an
educational narrative and audience participation.
