classesTHE GYPSY FOLK ENSEMBLE 2011 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

GYPSY celebrates the 2011 Summer Reading Program “One World, Many Stories”  with a choice of  two programs - Dances of Polynesia or an International Dance Program. Two or four dancers in colorful and authentic costume present the dances with an educational narrative and an opportunity for the audience to join in and learn a dance or two.

Library Summer Reading Program - PolynesianDANCES OF POLYNESIA
The Polynesians were some of the greatest travelers ever as they voyaged thousands of miles over open ocean to find their island homes. They told the stories of their travels and their adventures in a unique way - through dance. Join GYPSY as we tell the stories of the people of Hawai’i, Tahiti and New Zealand in dance. And we’ll all join in to learn how to tell a story in the Polynesian way.

INTERNATIONAL DANCE PROGRAM
In our International program we’ll travel around the world with dances from America and Europe, Africa and Asia, and on our visits we’ll hear the stories they tell about their dances because each dance has a story to tell. We’ll even learn a couple of dances along the way so we can tell our own stories.
